I saw the linked article below that explains the underlying reason why clutches slip and eventually overheat on refrigeration trucks. As you would imagine, it is not a design issue. It is a power issue. When the driver tries to run his microwave, blender, and hair dryer at the same time, there simply isn't enough power getting to the clutch to get full engagement, and it slips. Auxiliary Power Units (APU) would help to run all of our gadgets... if the price is right.
